In early July, I flew to Lima, Peru to spend some time with Knox, who decided to spend June and July studying Spanish at a local school in the Miraflores neighborhood. To give Knox a break, and because we wanted to check out a nearby city highly recommended by one of Knox’s instructors, we took a short flight to Arequipa, Peru, about an hour southeast.  At 7000 feet, the weather is dry, warm and sunny during the day, and chilly in the evenings. Considerably better than Mendoza in the winter! After 3 days and 4 nights exploring the city, we fully intend to return sometime again soon!
